Whitehall, N.Y. - Alice M. Ross, 91, formerly of 5 School Street in Whitehall, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. She most recently resided at Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center In Granville, N.Y.

Born February 4, 1924 in Valley Furnace, Pennsylvania the daughter of Thomas Doyle and Mary Ellen Quinn Doyle.

She graduated from Blythe Township (Pennsylvania) High School in 1942.

Alice and Gerald A. Ross were married October 19, 1946 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in New Philadelphia, Pa.  Alice and her loving spouse Gerald were married for 68 years before he predeceased her in August of this year.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Angels R.C. Church and currently of Our Lady of Hope R.C. Church, Whitehall.

After raising her children, she was the village librarian at Isaac C. Griswold Library in Whitehall for 19 years.

Besides her parents, she was predecessors by her husband, Gerald A. 'Barney' Ross, a son Victor Ross; a daughter Mary Ellen Ross-Kuster; infant granddaughter Shannon Ross and five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald F. Ross and wife Patricia of Hartford, N.Y.; Dennis A. Ross and wife Angella Gibbons of Marshfield, Vt., and Christopher Ross of Whitehall. Her grandchildren, Grace C. Ross and David A. Ross of Hartford; Jennifer and Joel Kuster of Switzerland; daughter-in-law Mary Anne (Victor) Ross of Queensbury, N.Y. and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Bulkley Ave., Granville, N.Y., with Reverend Joseph E. Arockiasamy, pastor officiating.

A Rite of Committal will be held privately for the family at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Whitehall.

The family would like to thank the staff of Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Granville for the care that they have given to Alice for the past 9 years.
