Obituary

Kathleen Marjorie Mack Hasler, known lovingly as Kate, passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2025, at Westchester Medical Center with her husband by her side after a five-month-long battle with illness. She was 56 years old.

Kate was born on January 28th,1969 at Glens Falls Hospital to Sandra (Dunster) Mack and William Mack. She was the youngest of four children. She grew up in Granville, graduating from Granville High School in 1987 and working as a waitress at Scottie's, which she reminisced upon fondly throughout her years. After her career at Scottie's, she pursued multiple fields of study. Throughout school, she worked at Howard Johnson's in Rutland. She studied psychology at the College of St. Joseph, in which she received a Bachelor's Degree, education at Castleton University, which she decided wasn't her niche, and graduated as a licensed practical nurse from Southern Adirondack Education Center in 1992.

Kate was very proud of her accomplishments in psychology and nursing. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, she practiced as a nurse at Mountain View Center in Rutland and Indian River in Granville. In 2005, she stepped away from the healthcare field and decided to utilize her experience in education by opening a home daycare, which she ran for seven years. After impacting the lives of the children she cared for, she went back to nursing at The Orchard in Granville until ultimately leaving the profession in 2015.

Although she was eager to return to work, major health struggles stood in the way. In 2018, she ended up with a kidney stone that was left unfound for months until January of 2019. After the stone was found, she ended up with Stevens Johnson Syndrome, which led to septic shock. She courageously pushed through her battle, recovering months later. However, seven years later, her Stevens Johnson Syndrome unfortunately returned, causing septic shock again and cutting her life short.

During her healthier days, she enjoyed listening to Billy Joel, off-roading in her yellow Jeep, which was her dream vehicle, and spending time watching television with her best furry friend, Button, who will be greeting her in heaven. She also adored collecting stuffed monkeys and the color yellow.

Kate was predeceased by her mother, Sandra Mack; her aunts, Donna Dunster, Constance Dunster, and Marjorie Mahler; uncles David Mahler, Philip, Kenneth "Spike", and Harold "Chip" Dunster.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband and life partner of twenty-five years, Patrick Hasler of Whitehall, originally of Northamptonshire; Her father, William (Celia) Mack of West Fort Ann; her three siblings, Edward (Tracy) Mack of Gansevoort, Rebecca (Vernon "Bubby") Heath of Comstock, and William Mack of Granville; Her loving children, Seth Peets (Michelle Huynh) of Rutland and Sadie Hasler of Whitehall; Her two stepchildren in the United Kingdom, Stephen Hasler (Charley Johnson) of Milton Keynes and Sarah (Bryn) Hayward of Grimsby; Her six grandchildren who also reside in England: Nicole and Leo Creighton, Annabelle Hasler, Harper Johnson, and Freya and Dylan Hayward; the woman she called her second mother, Mary Cole of Granville; Her beloved fur babies: Lilah, Luther, Holly, Tilly, Jovie, and Boo; As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she will miss dearly.

We would like to thank the emergency department staff at Glens Falls Hospital and the medical ICU staff at Westchester Medical Center for all of their love and support. We would specifically like to thank nurses G and Manny on the fifth floor, as well as Garrett, Jillian, and Merima in the medical ICU for their exceptional care.
