Obituary

Whitehall - Mary M. Rooker, 95, went home to Our Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Pines Nursing Home in Glens Falls, NY following a long illness.

Mary was born on April 6, 1930 in Whitehall. NY, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Vieu) Braymer. She was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1948.

Mary and Lurvey H. Rooker were united in marriage at Notre Dame des Victorious Church in Whitehall and had celebrated 44 years of marriage at the time of his death.

She was a lifetime communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall. Her faith in Our Lord and her deep devotion to His Mother Mary, was at the center of her daily life. Mary was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters and the St. Anne's Society.  She had made 25 pilgrimages to St. Anne's Shrine in Canada.

Mary had been employed for many years by the Champlain Silk Mill and Coat Factory in Whitehall.  She retired from General Electric in Fort Edward, NY, after 22 years.

Mary was talented in many areas. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and researching family genealogy to Pre- Revolutionary War dates. In later life she discovered quilting and was an exceptionally talented quilter.  She belonged to the Highland Quilters of Argyle and made many friends there.  Mary won many awards for her quilts and had an article published in a national magazine about her quilting. Mary especially loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was also an avid reader and just couldn't put a good cowboy novel down!

Throughout her life, and even in her later years, Mary had a youthful zest for life which shone through in her blue eyes and smile. She will be forever missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Beside her parents and husband, Lurvey, Mary is predeceased by her sister Betty (Bill) Weber and son-in-law, Peter M. Casola.

Survivors include her daughter Kathleen Casola of Glens Falls and her sons L. Daniel (Kathy) Rooker of Danville, Vt. and Timothy Rooker, Sr. of Whitehall. Mary is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Peter (Shelby) Casola, Anne Casola, Laura (Corey) Newell, Robert (Laura) Rooker, and Timothy Rooker II. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Benjamin, Alexander, Brady, Emma and Kelsea Marie.  A nephew, William (Lisa) Weber also survives her.
