IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Margaret
(Smith) Ferguson
February 19, 1940 – November 2, 2013
Dresden – Mary Margaret Ferguson, 73, formerly of North Road, Dresden, and recently residing in Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Granville, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Mary was born on February 19, 1940 in Beacon, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late George W. and Beulah (Rogers) Smith.
Mary was a loving and devoted mother of six children. When her eldest son Frederick (Ricky) was critically ill with kidney disease, she selflessly donated her own kidney. Throughout may trials and tribulations, Mary remained strong in her faith to the Lord.
Among her many interests, Mary enjoyed collecting antiques, ice fishing, maple sugaring, gardening, sewing, refinishing furniture and cooking delicious homemade soups for her family.
She is predeceased by her son, Frederick G. Ferguson and one brother, Arthur Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne G. Ferguson and his wife Karyn of Whitehall, Paul D. Ferguson and his wife Jeanne of Clemons, three daughters, Marilou F. Leclaire and her husband Lucien of Clemons, Renee F. Sperl and her husband Dale of (Putnam Station) Dresden and Bridgette T. Ferguson of Whitehall, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one brother, Brian Smith of Beacon, N.Y., two sisters, Catherine Dembek of Lodi, N.Y. and Beulah Spiegel of New Jersey, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at the Grace Baptist Church, 12 Queen Street, Whitehall with Reverend Paul Shepherd, pastor officiating.
Friends may call on the family at the church from 4:00 pm until the time of the services.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Clemons Cemetery, Clemons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Upstate New York Chapter, 421 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Michael G. Angiolillo Funeral Home, 210 Broadway, Whitehall.
