Queensbury, N.Y. - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry L. LaChapelle, who departed peacefully from this life at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife on February 5, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born on June 17, 1952, in Glens Falls, Terry was the cherished son of the late Leo R. and Ruth C. (Rooker) LaChapelle. He proudly graduated from Whitehall Central High School, a member of the esteemed Class of 1970, paving the way for a life characterized by diligent work and community service.

Terry's commitment to family was exemplified on May 28, 1978, when he united in marriage with Debra A. (Ross) LaChapelle in Whitehall, N.Y. Together, they nurtured a loving family, eventually relocating to the beautiful Queensbury area, where they continued to share their lives and create lasting memories.

For an impressive 33 years, Terry dedicated himself as a frame operator at the Native Textiles Company in Glens Falls, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to work alongside him. His faith played a fundamental role in his life; a devout communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, he later joined St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Fort Ann, where he continued to foster his spiritual connections.

Terry's journey of resilience included a kidney transplant, a testament to his strength and determination, which granted him many fulfilling years. He selflessly served on the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years, holding the title of President for 25 years, showcasing his unwavering dedication to community service. Terry reveled in the joy of traveling with his beloved wife, Debbie, cherishing every moment spent with his grandchildren as a devoted husband and father.

In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Robert Martel.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Debra A. LaChapelle of Queensbury, along with his two sons, Darrell J. LaChapelle of Whitehall, and Eric S. LaChapelle of Queensbury. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Derek LaChapelle, Ryan LaChapelle, Kaylea LaChapelle and Hayden DeLong. He is survived by his four brothers, Donald LaChapelle (Janet) of Westminster, S.C., Pearly "Butch LaChapelle (Shirley), Michael LaChapelle (Cindy) and Richard LaChapelle (Stephanie), all of Whitehall. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held in honor of Terry on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Michael G. Angiolillo Funeral Home, located at 210 Broadway in Whitehall, officiated by Father Zachariah Chichester, pastor of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Following the service on Saturday, the family warmly invites everyone to join them in celebrating Terry's remarkable life at the Whitehall Elks Lodge. Terry will be laid to rest in the spring at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions in Terry's name be made to the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department and Responders, located on Main Street, Whitehall, N.Y. 12887.
