Argyle, N.Y. - Wayne Charles Rich passed peacefully at the age of 84 on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Glens Falls Hospital after battling with COPD, Parkinsons and Dementia.
Wayne was born on June 18, 1942, in Glens Falls Hospital, the son of Leonard F. and Dorothy E. (Hyatt) Rich. He attended Whitehall High School.
He and Gloria Jean Vladyka were married on June 2,1962 in Whitehall, N.Y. and soon after they started their family. They were married for 30 years and hosted many gatherings for family and friends.
Wayne, who was often called senior by his beloved family, loved tinkering on cars, chainsaws and other small machinery. He was very handy and maintained many homes throughout his lifetime and enjoyed cutting wood and growing vegetables at all of them.
He enjoyed telling stories of the many hours he spent hunting and fishing with his family. He was a kind and gentle man and respected by everyone that he met and a cherished friend to all.
During his lifetime, he worked mostly in manufacturing mills including International Paper, Union Camp in South Glens Falls until the company moved out of the area and Dairylee in Whitehall until they closed. He also managed a Gas station for several years.
Besides his parents, Leonard F. Rich, Sr. and Dorothy E. (Hyatt) Rich, Wayne was pre-deceased by his wife, Gloria Jean (Vladyka) Rich, his son, Wayne Charles Rich Jr, his father-in-law, Stephen Vladyka and mother-in-law, Dorothy Vladyka, his brother, Leonard F. Rich, Jr., his sister, Dawn Rich, brothers-in-law, Stephen Vladyka and Concetto Poalino, and sisters-in-law, Jean (Lowell) Vladyka, Shirley (Vladyka) Poalino and Anna (Vladyka) Carruth.
Wayne is survived by his son, Glenn J. Rich of Argyle, and daughter-in-law, Anna K. Rich of Fort Ann, and grandson, Wayne C. Rich, III and his wife, Marcia Rich of Derby, NY and granddaughter, Amy Rich Crane and her husband, Michael Crane of Epping, NH., and his great-grandchildren, Daniel and Colin Rich and Sophia and Chloe Crane. He is also survived by his brother, Keith Rich of Glens Falls, NY, brothers-in-law, Larry Vladyka and wife Shirley of Benson Vt. and Joe Vladyka of Florida. Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 4:00 pm in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Fair Haven, Vt. where Wayne will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Gloria.
A celebration of life will follow the committal service for family and friends at 4:30 pm the Fair Haven American Legion Post, Route 22, in Fair Haven.
