C. Dana Barker, Sr. Obituary

Granville - C. Dana Barker, 83, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family at his side following a long illness.

 He was born in Hudson Falls, N.Y. the son of Herbert E. and Madeline (Selfridge) Barker.

 Dana Graduated from Hartford High School, class of 1952.

 He served in the New York State Army National Guard for eight years.

 Dana and his first wife, Enola (Barbur) Barker were united in marriage from 1954 to 1974.  He then met and married Kay (Roberts) Barker in 1975 until her death in 1997.  After her death, he became reacquainted with a longtime friend, Janet Graham-Carter and they were life partners for the past 20 years.

 He was employed for Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville in the maintenance department for many years.  He was also a truck driver for many years.

 Dana was a member and Past Master of Herschel-Argyle Lodge #508 joining in 1955, serving as the Grand Sword Bearer for the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in the State of New York in 1991-92.  He was a member and Past High Priest of Sandy Hill-Granville Chapter #189, Royal Arch Masons in Hartford, joining in 1967, and serving as District Deputy for the 14th Capitular District in 2002.  He was a member and Past Patron of Anolia Chapter #140 in Hartford, Order of the Eastern Star, State of New York.

 Dana has enjoyed camping, traveling to Florida and spent three months traveling with Janet to Alaska in their camper. 

 Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife, Enola Barker, his second wife Kay Barker and one brother, Kendell S. Barker.

 Survivors include his life partner, Janet Graham-Carter of Granville, his two daughters, Christy Ann Dyer and her companion Bruce Bentley and Deborah Louise Downing and her, husband Brian, all of Hartford, his five sons, Ira Lee Barker and his wife, Linda, of New Jersey, Lloyd Dana Barker and his wife, Gretchen, of Hartford, G. Dean Barker and his wife, Elaine, of Hudson Falls, C. Dana Barker, Jr. and his wife, Beth and C. David Barker and his wife, Stephanie all of Granville, one sister, Lois Annette Rungo and her husband, John of Spartanburg, S.C., 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson.  He is also survived by his twin brother, C. Dale Barker and his wife Elaine of Fort Ann, and his three brother-in-laws, Blois “Butch” Barbur of Beacon Hill, James Roberts of Granville, and John Roberts of New Scotland , one sister-in-law, Linda Barrett of Granville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Michael G. Angiolillo Funeral Home, 210 Broadway, Whitehall, N.Y. with Reverend Robert Flower, retired pastor of South Granville Congregational Church, South Granville, N.Y. officiating.

 Friends may call from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home prior to the services.  A Masonic Service will be conducted at 5:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home.  All area masons are invited to attend.

 Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Morningside Cemetery, Hartford. 

 The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions take the form of donations in Dana’s memory to the Herschel-Argyle Masonic Lodge #508, c/o David Townsend, 11 Spring Street, Hudson Falls, N.Y.  12839-1312.
