Granville, N.Y.  -  Irene M. Stoddard, 85, passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 28, 2017 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on January 26, 1932 in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of the late Paul J. and Edna M. (Roberts) Murphy.

She was a graduate of Granville High School, “Class of 1950”.

Irene and her late husband, Wayne Stoddard were united in marriage in 1952 in Granville.  Wayne passed away in 1998 following forty six years of marriage.

Irene was a lifetime Elder and member of the Peniel Presbyterian Church of Granville.

Besides her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her two sons; Gary L. and Jeffery L. Stoddard.

Survivors include her son Wayne L. Stoddard and his wife Penn of Granville, her four grandchildren, Adam Stoddard and his wife Terilee of Fort Ann, Laura Daigle and Jeffery Stoddard of Granville and Christopher Stoddard of Syracuse, N.Y.  She is also survived by her three great-grandchildren; Gabriel and Camden Daigle and Brian Stoddard, one brother, Robert Murphy and his wife Alice of New Britton, Ct. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Irene’s request was that there be no calling hours.

A Graveside service will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery, Granville with Reverend Jerry McKinney officiating.

Following the committal services, the family would like to invite everyone to join them at the Granville V.F.W Hall on North Street, Granville to continue the celebration of Irene’s life.

A special thanks to Ashley Mattison for the comfort and care that she gave to Irene which allowed Irene to spend her last year of her life in her own home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Irene’s memory be sent to The United Church of Granville, PO Box 117, Granville, N.Y.  12832.
